In today's modern world it is difficult to fit everything in sometimes. There's work, exercise, family, friends, housework, kids, food, shopping. It can be non-stop! You can spend your day doing and doing and doing but you get into bed at night and not know what you did during the day?

Do you feel like this on a regular basis?

Then this means you're not being mindful during the day. There's nothing wrong with you, on the contrary, you've actually already started your mindfulness journey because you have realised that maybe you're doing too much or you're not fully paying attention, maybe you're on autopilot too much.

Before we look at how you can become MINDFUL, let's look at what mindfulness is?

If you type "mindfulness" into google, one of the top results if not the top result will tell you:

1. the quality of state of being conscious or aware of something

2. a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.

This might seem a little daunting but it doesn't have to be. You can be aware of something or one action or one task and only for a short period of time. And you build up your mindfulness and awareness over time, it doesn't have to be all at once and even the most gifted would find it hard to change so dramatically.

To become MINDFUL you can start as small as doing a 10 minute exercise a few times a week. Two of my favourite exercises are called Mindful seeing and Body Scan.

During the MINDFUL SEEING exercise you are looking at the world directly in front of you and being aware of all the different elements that are there, down to the most basic form of shapes. You can sit in your garden, in the park, look out of your office window or a window at home to practice this exercise.

In comparison when you practice a BODY SCAN exercise you are focused on your body and being aware of each different area and the sensations they are feeling. You are being mindful of self.

By taking the time to be MINDFUL in small chucks of time to start with, you will find it becomes easier and more enjoyable and it will also transfer naturally into other areas of your life.

Strong Bird Fitness offers 5 STRONG MIND sessions in the park after each STRONG BODY training session. They are £3 and last 30 minutes. If you fancy trying one, head over to the book online page and find a session time to suit you.
